Columbia Central High School is a NCA Accredited High School in full compliance
with the mandates of "No Child Left Behind" and "Education Yes." For the 2007-08
school year, CCHS received a letter grade of "B" on our State Report Card that
measures academic success. This measure has been consistent over the last three
years, showing steady growth in performance on the ACT and MME Test. In addition
to several State mandated additions, we have proudly introduced two advanced
academic classes that have strengthened our curriculum offers; A.P. Calculus,
and Introduction to Engineering Design are now part of a challenging academic
offering at Columbia Central High School.
The academic, social, and athletic accomplishments are a great source of pride
for our students, staff, and community. We are also especially proud of our
Band, Drum Line, Leadership Class, and the other “co” and extracurricular
activities and organizations that represent our school well. More than half of
our students are involved in an extracurricular sports team, and another thirty
percent in various clubs and organizations such as National Honor Society,
Students Against Destructive Decisions and Key Club.
We take the greatest pride in our students, staff, and facility; the majority of
our staff holds a Masters' Degree in their chosen teaching area. Our students
take the greatest pride in their school and the programs offered; strong
academic demands are placed upon our students as we continue to meet and exceed
the mandates of the state curriculum. Twenty-five credits are required for
graduation; most of our students graduate with twenty-eight. Honors classes are
subject to a weighted graded system; therefore, many students finish with a
grade point average above 4.0.
Community pride and support in our school is very important to us; parents and
community are welcomed into our facility and encouraged to take part in the
educational process. Community groups and individuals are encouraged to
use our facilities,
including the newly constructed Columbia Community Fitness Center.
New members to the community are encouraged to drop in for a visit, or personal
tour of the facility with the high school principal.

The Board of Education of Columbia Central High School has adopted a

FIGHT SONG
There is a story behind this fight song.
About three decades ago, the music department decided the current
song, based on the Marine Hymn, had run its course and the school
needed something "more catchy". A committee, made up of Robert
Spencer, Lee Brower and Phil Chelekis, researched other fight songs
and decided the fight song from Central Michigan University was the
best for us. Mr. Chelekis adapted the music and the committee
came up with the lyrics, loosely based on CMU. |

Fight, Central, down the field
Fight for victory
Fight, Eagles, never yield
We're with you oh varsity Onward
with banners bold
In our hearts, you are the best,
Fight for the blue and gold,
Down the field for CHS, Varsity!
Varsity!
Eagles, we're proud of that nickname!
Hear our song!
Loud and strong!
Central is going to win this game. Come
on and ... (repeat)
