Columbia Elementary School

Welcome From Principal Deb Powell

I am excited to welcome back our students, families, and staff for the 2011-2012 school year and proud to introduce our new school, Columbia Elementary! The building is cleaned and polished, and classes will be held in every room in the building. Our custodians and volunteers, led by transition coordinator, Mr. Greg Meschke, have done a wonderful job moving teachers and preparing the rooms for the fall. All of the CES teachers have also been busy during the summer making preparations for the new school year.

I am planning and anticipating a year filled with challenge, learning, and excitement. The staff and I are very excited that you have entrusted your child’s education to us. We will make every effort to help your child achieve academically and socially this year. It is our goal to create an enriching learning environment that engages each and every student. Of course, as the first teachers in your child’s life we need your support. Columbia Elementary has an excellent teaching staff with a wealth of knowledge. We also have an excellent support staff that work in different capacities to support your child’s learning.

I encourage you to become active in our PTO this year. They have been working collaboratively since spring to provide numerous support programs to Columbia Elementary. In addition, one of the primary goals of the CES PTO is to promote community spirit. This happens by organizing fun events throughout the year, supporting teachers and staff, fundraising, helping support academic programs and promoting other important events. The CES PTO welcomes every parent to become involved and make difference at CES!

Finally, if your child needs additional support or if you have a concern please don’t hesitate to contact their teacher or me. It is our mission to support your child in whatever way we can. Columbia Elementary is fortunate to have resources to support students and their families. Remember “Working together makes a difference in the lives of our students”. Welcome to Columbia Elementary and to a great school year!

Deb Powell, Principal
